Compose is the first and only A/B testing software to offer pay-as-you-go pricing. Saving you money and allowing your experimentation strategy to be more dynamic and flexible throughout the year.
Billing can either be managed through Stripe or Shopify, depending on if you are a Shopify store.
What is "pay as you go" pricing?
Pay-as-you-go pricing means you only pay for the exact number of monthly tested users (MTUs) accrued in a given month. Unlike other A/B testing solutions where you pay a flat rate for a monthly subscription that you may or may not utilize to the fullest each month, Compose adjusts to your needs always giving you the best price.
How much does Compose cost?
Your bill with Compose will be different each month. The current rate is $0.0012/MTU (however, you can double-check your rate per MTU by referencing the billing page on your account - visible only to admins and owners). For example, if you accumulate 283,751 tested users in the month of March, on April 1st you would be billed $340.51. Suppose your site traffic is lower the following month and you only reach 193,624 tested users, then on May 1st you would be billed $232.35. Monthly bills will always be rounded up to the nearest cent.
Benefits of pay-as-you-go pricing
Save money - A pay-as-you-go pricing model guarantees that you get the most value out of your A/B testing software because you never pay for unutilized features or tested users. Plus, Compose is designed to make experimentation more affordable and accessible, so the rate per MTU is still significantly lower than the alternatives.
No surcharges - Since Compose has no pricing "tiers" you can't go over and accidentally get hit with a pesky surcharge. For example, imagine you're using a different A/B testing software and your plan includes up to 250,000 tested users. You run a promotion and traffic spikes so you exceed your MTUs by 270. In a tiered pricing model you will probably be charged hundreds of dollars as a surcharge for going over, but with Compose you will just be charged for those tested users individually as normal adding up to only $0.32.
Scale up and down seamlessly - Compose allows you to scale up or down your experimentation velocity seamlessly, no need to adjust your plan. This also means that if your business sees ebbs and flows in traffic due to seasonality and/or marketing efforts you will always keep the best price without having to upgrade.
No long-term contracts - Commitment can be scary. While other A/B testing software options lock you in for 1-2 year contracts, Compose is entirely month-to-month. Signing up is free and you will only be billed for MTUs accumulated each month. You can pause testing with no penalties or monthly bills.
When am I billed?
You will always be billed on the first of the month. The invoice will include all tested users from the previous month as well as line items for any add-ons that you have selected. If you upgrade your plan to include an add-on in the middle of the month your next invoice will include the monthly fee plus a prorated charge for the days in the previous month.
How can I monitor our monthly bill?
Within your organization dashboard, if your account has permission to view billing details (only admins and owners can view billing), there will be a billing tab on the left. When opened, you will be able to view a running total of your MTU and invoice total for the month as well as a chart displaying your monthly tested users over time. These bar graphs will be broken into different colors to display your different projects, if you have multiple. You can also view your invoice history.
What's included in my plan?
All of Compose's strategic planning and experimentation tools are included in our base pay-as-you-go plan. For a complete list of included features check out our website.
You also will receive a free onboarding session and ongoing email support. If you're looking for more one-on-one help we offer an Advanced Support add-on. Learn more.
Failed Payments
Always ensure your payment methods are up to date. If a payment fails, a failed invoice will be generated and an email alert will be sent to all organization owners. You can view the failed invoice in your billing details and pay for it from there. Failure to address a failed payment may affect your ability to maintain or create experiments.
What if we pause/stop testing?
Then your billing pauses/stops as well! You only pay for the MTUs you use in a given month so if experimentation stops, so do the invoices (unless you have selected the advanced support add-on).
How do we cancel?
Since Compose only charges you by usage, there's no need to formally cancel your account. Simply stop testing and you will not be invoiced. However, you are free to cancel your subscription at any time. If you cancel a subscription in the middle of a billing cycle, you will need to generate a final invoice to pay for the usage-based billing up to that point. After the final invoice is generated, you can cancel your subscription.
