What is a PIE score?
Compose uses the PIE Scoring method to determine the priority of a Hypothesis. This calculates an overall score out of 10 based on your 1 to 5 rating of 3 different categories:
Potential - how much impact the change is expected to have
Importance - how valuable the page is where the change exists or how valuable the goal you are aiming to achieve with this hypothesis is toward your bigger picture.
Ease - how simple/complex the experiment and variants are to create and implement.
How it is calculated
Each category is weighted evenly. The overall priority is calculated by adding the three ratings, dividing by 15, and multiplying by 10. A higher rating means it is a higher priority.
We recommend having general guidelines to help your organization prioritize your hypotheses. For example, if you're an e-commerce company mainly looking to increase revenue conversions, then a hypothesis that aims to increase revenue may get an importance of 5, while a hypothesis aimed at engagement would be lower.
