A draft experiment is one that is in the process of being created. It may have been started, but all the details are not complete yet. Draft experiments are not live and variants are not visible to visitors. A draft can be edited at any time. An experiment may still be in a draft state because it needs to be reviewed or approved before the experiment goes live.
An active experiment means that the experiment has started. You want to do this only after your variants and all aspects of the Experiment are complete and have been reviewed. Once an experiment has started, visitors will be directed to variants based on your Traffic Allocation. An active experiment cannot be edited or changed.
A paused experiment is one that was started, but is no longer running at the moment. When an experiment is paused, visitors will not see any variants. A paused experiment can be edited. You may need to pause an experiment if it’s not functioning properly or a change needs to be made to the experiment settings.
A complete experiment is one that is over and will not be run again. You will complete an experiment if results are conclusive or you have determined the experiment is no longer of value. If the experiment may need to be started again, we recommend Pausing it instead. Once an experiment is complete, it cannot be started again.
